Happy World Water Day

On the occasion of World Water Day, we would like to share a summary of the measures that we, as a company, are taking to contribute to the conservation of this precious commodity.
- Water consumption savings: At the Xauxa mine (Gualba) we have considerably reduced the use of water for irrigation, and we can see that in 2023 we used 54% less groundwater than the previous year. The following measures have been applied at the Sant Celoni plant:

 Improvement of localized dust extraction systems at the material transfer points of the crushing, mixing and bagging facilities.

 Reinforcement of the maintenance in the filters, revision, replacement and cleaning of the filtering elements.

 Improvement of installation and equipment sealing.

 Reinforcement of the cleaning of the facilities, grounds and accesses, and periodic vacuuming of the dust. Thus, this year 2023, the Plant has already reduced the consumption of drinking water (from the network) by 59% and of groundwater by 46%, compared to the consumption in 2022.

2- Social responsibility and collaboration with the Town Council for the supply of water from the Xauxa mine to the population of Gualba, establishing the infrastructure and adequate mechanisms to cover the water needs of the 2,000 inhabitants, and to maintain this supply in the coming months until the drought is reversed.
